Alexander Nesterenko, the former vice-governor of the Krasnodar Territory, was detained, a source told Izvestia on May 22.
He is suspected of abuse of office. His home and his former office are being searched.
The day before, Krasnodar Territory Governor Veniamin Kondratiev fired Nesterenko, who was in charge of the region's construction industry. According to the head of the region, the reason for this decision was the systematic lag behind schedule in the construction of social facilities.
