The court extended the house arrest of the Chekalin bloggers until June 26.

The Troitsky court in Moscow extended the house arrest of bloggers Valeria and Artem Chekalin in the case of the withdrawal of more than 250 million rubles from Russia. This was reported on May 22 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

According to him, during the court session, the investigator motivated the extension of the arrest by the inability to complete the investigation of the case within the established time frame.

It is noted that the ex-spouses of the Chekalins remain under house arrest until June 26, 2025.

A criminal case against the blogger and her husband Artyom, whom Chekalina subsequently divorced, was opened on October 2 last year. The ex-husband and wife, as well as their accomplice, were suspected of illegally withdrawing more than 250 million rubles from Russia to Dubai using forged documents (art. 193.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The Moscow City Court extended the defendants' house arrest until May 24.
