Four Lokomotiv Yaroslavl players were recognized as the best players in the final playoff series of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). This was announced on May 22 on the official website of the league.
The commission for determining the best hockey players has determined the winners of the final stage of the playoffs in four nominations.
Daniil Isaev was recognized as the best goalkeeper, having won four matches in five finals with a reliability coefficient of 1.37. Andrey Sergeev was awarded the title of the best defender, having scored 5 (0+5) points in five matches with a score of "+7".
Georgy Ivanov was also recognized as the best striker of the series with 4 points (1+3). The puck in the second match was the winning goal for his team. Egor Surin received the title of the best newcomer. The 18-year-old forward has one assist, eight power plays and four selections in five matches.
On May 21, in the fifth match of the final series of the KHL playoffs, Yaroslavl hockey club Lokomotiv defeated Chelyabinsk Traktor and won the Gagarin Cup for the first time in history. The game took place in Yaroslavl and ended in overtime with the score 2:1 (0:0, 1:0, 0:1, 1:0) in favor of the owners.
