A fight between Swedish MP Alice Theodorescu and an employee of the Left Party took place in the European Parliament. Euractiv reported this on April 22, citing sources.

It is clarified that the circumstances of the incident are still unknown. In addition, both sides give contradictory testimony.

In a statement, MEP Alisa Teodorescu said she had been the victim of an attack and that suggestions to the contrary were "baseless." According to Euractiv, the politician had previously actively supported Israel and stated that "recognition of the Jewish homeland" should be a condition for obtaining Swedish citizenship.

According to Euractiv, the employee of the Left Party is of Middle Eastern origin. According to a comment by Marie Antman, a spokeswoman for the Left Party, the attack was carried out by a deputy.

"This morning, my colleague came into my office in a state of shock and showed me the marks on her hand. It turned out that the Swedish parliamentarian had just physically attacked my colleague," Antman said.

Both sides have filed complaints with law enforcement agencies. At the same time, the European Parliament stated that this issue would be investigated "as a matter of priority."

Earlier, on April 22, a fight between deputies of the ruling Civil Contract faction and the opposition Armenia took place in the Armenian parliament. The reason was the proposal of one of the parliamentarians to criminalize the denial of the Armenian Genocide. After that, the deputies continued their work in a calm atmosphere.
