Modern technologies allow you to create jewelry with stones that are almost indistinguishable from natural diamonds to the naked eye. Ekaterina Fomina, stylist of 585*GOLD, told Izvestia on May 24 about stones that can become a worthy substitute for expensive diamonds while maintaining a luxurious appearance.

Cubic zirconia, or cubic zirconia, tops the list of the most popular analogues. This artificially grown mineral has an impressive play of light and is available in a wide range of colors — from classic transparent options to bright shades.

"Only a professional can see the difference between it and a natural stone. The color of cubic zirconia can be very different — from bright shades to completely transparent. That's why jewelry with it is so popular, because they are available and come in literally every taste and color," explained Fomina.

According to the stylist, moissanite deserves special attention — a stone that is rare in nature but available in laboratory cultivation. It is not only as good as diamonds, but also surpasses diamonds in terms of light refraction, creating a disco ball effect with rainbow highlights. At the same time, the cost of such stones remains at a democratic level.

Fomina recommends that connoisseurs of natural minerals pay attention to white topaz. This gemstone has its own energy and noble luster, and only a professional gemologist can notice the difference with a diamond.

Colorless spinel completes the list.

"This stone is a real deceiver: for centuries it has been confused with much more expensive gems. Spinel often looks even more interesting than a diamond, because from different angles it can cast slightly pink, gray or bluish shades," the expert said.

Earlier, on April 18, it was reported that in 2024, Russians increased spending on gold products with diamonds by 25% compared to 2023. The total expenditure of the population on these goods has reached 106 billion rubles. This follows from the data of the jewelry company "Alcor".
