On May 22, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz condemned the murder of two Israeli diplomats near the Jewish Museum in Washington.

"I condemn this heinous act in the strongest terms," Merz wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

He noted that he was shocked by the incident and expressed his sympathy to the families of the deceased employees of the Israeli Embassy.

Also, according to him, at this stage the world should assume the presence of anti-Semitic motives.

The shooting near the Jewish Museum in Washington was announced on May 22 by the US Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristy Noem. According to her, two employees of the Israeli Embassy were killed in the incident. At the same time, it was reported that the attacker was purposefully shooting at employees of the diplomatic mission leaving the museum.
