Russians have become more likely to spend large sums on car repairs

Car service stations have recorded an increase in the number of customers who apply for expensive car repairs. According to the results of the first four months of 2025, the number of car arrivals with an average check of more than 20 thousand rubles increased by 12%, the Fit Service analytical service said, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported on May 22.

Car arrivals with an average check of zero and an amount of up to 5,000 rubles accounted for 24% and 35%, respectively. The number of customers visiting for small or free services increased by 8% year on year. Those who spend less than 5,000 rubles on car repairs have decreased by a quarter (28%). The number of car owners with repairs for 5-10 thousand rubles increased by 1%. The group of those who paid 10-20 thousand rubles for the repair of their car increased by 6% year on year.

Tatiana Ovchinnikova, director of the international network of car service Fit Service, noted that the share of drivers who spend a substantial budget on repairs and maintenance has been growing the fastest for the second year. The Russian fleet is aging, and cars require more and more labor-intensive and expensive repairs, she noted.

She called the dynamics of "zero" checks a positive trend: the more often drivers come for inexpensive or even free diagnostics, the better for the car. Inexpensive preventive maintenance and diagnostics can protect the car from serious breakdowns.
