- The second festival of young cinema "New Movement" announces the composition of the jury and the program

The New Movement Festival of Young Cinema, which will be held in Veliky Novgorod from May 29 to June 2, 2025, announces the composition of the jury and participants of this year's competition program. This year, the festival will once again bring together bright debutants, independent authors and young professionals of Russian cinema.
The jury was chaired by director Alexey Mizgirev, and the jury also included producer Sabina Eremeeva, cinematographer Daniil Fomichev, actor Daniil Vorobyov, and actress Alexandra Revenko.
The opening film of the festival will be "Family Happiness" by Stacy Tolstoy. This is a sensual drama about the complex and fragile world of marital relations, starring Eugene. Tsyganov, Evgenia Leonova, Irina Rozanova, Elena Morozova, Vladislav Tsenev, Marietta Tsigal-Polishchuk, Anvar Libabov, Polina Liske, Misha Gurai, Nikita Pavlenko, Yulia Snigir.
The program director of the festival, film critic Vadim Rutkovsky:
"The program of any festival is always a balance between curatorial choice and randomness. Something develops due to efforts, something is at the will of higher, cinematic forces. The competition of the second "New Movement" has several general lines. First, there is the lack of hierarchies — there are studio projects and independent films made with minimal or no crew. Secondly, decentralization — metropolitan work is only half of the program. The main line is travel: external and internal, genre and geographical."
There are a total of 8 films in the competition program, each of which speaks a unique film language: the one-shot visual experiment "Sometimes we are Travelers" (dir. Daniil Prasolov), the myth of youth "Fixed Stars" (dir. Ivan Kurbakov), the mystical-romantic comedy from Bashkortostan "My Boyfriend, the Mannequin" (directed by Dmitry Nikolenko), the restrained drama "North Station" (directed by Sergey Ovechko), a meditative film about young people from the Kabardian village "In the Mountains. She" (directed by Said Tolgurov), a family movie starring Elena Lyadova and Denis Shvedov "Field of Miracles" (directed by Anna Sichinskaya), the eccentric urban comedy "The Habit of Sniffing Fingers" (dir. Vyacheslav Ivanov), a quasi-documentary thriller from the everyday life of the Moscow housing estate "Perfect Silence" (dir. Slava Fedorov).
