The Igor Chentsov Regatta will be held under the auspices of the SPIEF

The Igor Chentsov Regatta is included in the program of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Sports Games. Yachtsmen's races will be held from May 22 to May 25 at the Pestovsky Reservoir and will open a new season of the Tenzor Elite Cup 2025 sailing series.

Igor Lisovenko, winner and medalist of the Russian, European and World Championships and Cups, Denis Gribanov, bronze medalist of the 2015 World and European Championships in the 470 class, Pavel Sozykin, bronze medalist of the World Championships in the 470 class, and other leading Russian yachtsmen will take part in the competition.

"We can safely say that another SPIEF sports tradition is confidently gathering wind in its sails. Igor Chentsov devoted his life to the development of Russian sailing. On the initiative of his wife Irina Chentsova, the Federation, the Roscongress Foundation and the Tenzor Sailing Club hold an annual tournament that opens the aquatic part of the SPIEF Sports Games. It is important that his life's work continues successfully. Leading Russian yachtsmen can get competitive practice, including through club formats. The level of such tournaments is growing every year. It is important that business actively supports the Ministry of Sports and the Federation in this work," said Georgy Bryusov, a member of the Roscongress Foundation's Supervisory Board.

The 20 strongest teams and about 100 yachtsmen from the TSC club rating will be allowed to participate in the tournament. This system was first used in sailing last year at the initiative of the tournament organizers. The rating determines the strongest sailing teams based on the results of their participation in the largest regattas in the MX700 yacht class for two years.

"The rating system is used in many sports: tennis, football, boxing, golf, chess. In our opinion, she has prospects in sailing as well. Our goal is to empower athletes and maintain their high athletic motivation, including through landmark international sailing tournaments," said Ekaterina Tseplyaeva, General Director of the Tenzor Sailing Club network.

The Igor Chentsov Regatta will host one-day Tenzor Cup Junior competitions for children from 7 to 13 years old, which will allow young yachtsmen to gain useful skills.

In addition, commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory are planned. According to the established tradition, special attention will be paid to the legacy of outstanding people in sailing.

The program of the SPIEF Sports Games was formed by the sports platform of the Roscongress Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held from June 18 to 21.
