Security measures should be immediately tightened at all Israeli diplomatic missions following the murder of two Israeli diplomats in Washington. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued the order on May 22.

"I have given instructions to strengthen security measures in Israeli missions around the world, as well as the security of state representatives," the politician's Telegram channel says.

Netanyahu called the tragedy that occurred in the American capital the result of incitement against Israel, as well as another manifestation of anti-Semitism. He noted that he had a conversation with the Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Yehiel Lightyear, who provided him with operational information about the murder of embassy staff in Washington.

"I have been informed that [US President] Donald Trump is closely monitoring the incident, and the US authorities will do everything possible to bring the killer to justice. <...> Blood is being shed because of the cruel slanders against Israel, and they must be fought to the very end. My heart aches for the families and loved ones of the young man and girl whose lives were cut short by a disgusting anti-Semitic murderer," the politician said.

Earlier on May 22, US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristy Noem announced that two representatives of the Israeli diplomatic mission had been killed near the Jewish Museum in Washington. She also noted that an investigation has been launched into the incident to clarify all the circumstances.

The CBS News channel, citing sources, reported that the attacker was purposefully shooting at diplomatic mission staff leaving the museum, shouting pro-Palestinian slogans.
