- The media reported on the possible connection of Portnov's murder with organized crime.

The murder in Spain of Andrei Portnov, a former adviser to ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, may be linked to organized crime. This was reported on May 22 by the ABC newspaper, citing sources in Spanish intelligence.
According to investigators, the murder could have been committed by two or three hired gunmen "either because of economic issues or out of revenge."
"This does not mean that the killers are not Ukrainians, but at the moment there is no political motive in these events," TASS reports.
Portnov's murder was reported on May 21. Unknown people shot him dead in Madrid. According to the newspaper El Mundo, Portnov was shot in the head. It is specified that before the murder he took his children to school.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said that Portnov's murder is characterized by special cynicism, as it was committed at the school where his child studies.
