- The media reported on Alphabet shares donated by Google co-founder Brin for $ 700 million.

Google co-founder and one of the richest people on the planet Sergey Brin donated 4.1 million shares of Alphabet Corporation worth about $ 700 million dollars. This was reported by Bloomberg on May 22, citing regulatory documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
According to the publication, the shares, equally distributed between two categories — A and C, could be directed to charitable purposes or to trust funds. Journalists have not yet been able to receive an official comment from Brin's representatives.
This step fits into the already established practice of the billionaire. In 2023, Brin also transferred about $600 million worth of Alphabet shares during the annual Google I/O conference. Later that year, he publicly announced additional donations of more than $100 million in shares twice, in May and November.
"Sergey Brin regularly directs his funds to support medical and environmental initiatives, especially in the field of Parkinson's disease research," Bloomberg noted.
The transfer of shares took place against the background of positive news for Alphabet itself. On the day of the donation disclosure, the company's share price increased by 5.6% after new product announcements at the developer conference. In particular, Google has introduced the "AI mode" tab in search, which will allow users to interact directly with artificial intelligence.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Sergey Brin's fortune is estimated at $144.3 billion, making him the tenth richest man in the world. His Google founding partner, Larry Page, ranks ninth with a fortune of $153.2 billion. The bulk of Brin's capital is held in Alphabet's Class B and C shares.
The Financial Times newspaper reported on January 27 that shares of the American company Nvidia fell by 16.8% amid the growing popularity of the new artificial intelligence model of Chinese DeepSeek— a competitor to ChatGPT. It is clarified that due to the success of Chinese AI, the shares of the S& P 500 company fell by 1.5%, the Nasdaq Composite — by 3%, losing almost 612.5 points, and Broadcom — by more than 17%. In addition, Microsoft shares fell by 2.14%. Despite this, Apple grew by 3% and was able to avoid falling.
