Hegseth discussed with Musk the use of AI for US military needs

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth held a meeting at the Pentagon with Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX, billionaire and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), at which the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the army was discussed. This was reported on May 22 by the Reuters news agency, citing officials.
"Secretary [Hegseth] met with Elon Musk and other members of the X AI team this morning," Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement.
He added that the Pentagon plans to work with the heads of companies developing AI systems to ensure the readiness of the American Armed Forces to the threats of the 21st century. According to the agency, Musk's companies Starlink and SpaceX have already signed a number of contracts with the Pentagon.
The Wall Street Journal reported on May 1 that the US Army plans to expand the use of drones. The American side also intends to improve the equipment of troops with tablets, provide them with Internet access and invest about $ 3 billion in the development of technologies to combat enemy drones.
