American Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (listed in the Russian Federation as a terrorist and extremist), on May 22, voiced threats against China and other partners of the Russian Federation, speaking about the alleged unwillingness of Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.

"The overwhelming majority in the U.S. Senate believes that Putin is avoiding real negotiations because he believes that over time, the United States and our allies will break down. It would be a serious miscalculation that could harm China and other countries," he said on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Graham also said that he had a "very good" meeting with Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng. They discussed trade issues and touched upon the Ukrainian conflict.

On May 21, Bloomberg reported that US President Donald Trump told the leaders of European countries about his confidence in Russia's victory in the Ukrainian conflict.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on May 19, following a telephone conversation with the American leader, that Russia was ready to work on a memorandum with Ukraine, including a cease-fire. According to the Russian leader, Moscow stands for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.
