Tank units of the Vostok group of forces thwarted an attempted counterattack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Yuzhnodonets direction. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense on May 22.

The ministry stressed that during the combat work, tank crews inflicted targeted fire damage on enemy positions located on a well-fortified defensive line, as well as on places where Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel gathered in the area of the village of Otradnoye, from where the enemy wanted to attempt a counterattack on Russian positions.

"The main thing for me is to drive the guys quietly and calmly to the position so that they can work out and leave quickly," said the driver with the call sign Axel.

The work of the tankers made it possible to thwart an attempt to organize a counterattack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and enabled the stormtroopers of the Eastern Group of Forces to improve their position along the front line.
