- The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the draining of a lake in Lesozavodsk in Primorye.

In Primorsky Krai, an inspection has been organized on the fact of the drainage of Lake Chernenko, located in Lesozavodsk. This is reported by IA PrimaMedia with reference to the Amur Basin Environmental Prosecutor's Office.
According to preliminary information, the lake was drained as a result of construction work on the dam. A hydraulic structure separates the reservoir and the Ussuri River.
The news agency clarifies that after the floods of 2024, the authorities planned to deepen and clear Lake Chernenko and carry out coastal protection work, but an attempt to partially open the channel to lower the water level led to the erosion of the dam. Thus, the water from the lake rapidly disappeared, and the water level in the wells of local residents dropped.
"The environmental prosecutor will evaluate the actions and decisions during the work in the water protection zone of the Ussuri River," the supervisory authority said in a statement. Based on the results of the audit, if there are grounds, measures of the prosecutor's response will be taken.
