The murder of Andrei Portnov, a former adviser to ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, in Spain could be related to economic issues. This opinion was expressed by political scientist Alexander Dudchak on Wednesday, May 21.

"What happened now, I'm not sure if it's related to politics, it could well have been a showdown on economic grounds. He could have failed to fulfill his obligations somewhere," Dudchak said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

According to the political scientist, Portnov has registered a dozen and a half cases against former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko (he is part of an association listed by Rosfinmonitoring as involved in extremist activities or terrorism), which have led to nothing. In the presidential administration, he dealt with political and information issues, but being close to the first person provided certain economic benefits and administrative opportunities, which Portnov used, Dudchak believes.

Portnov was killed on May 21, RT reports. He was shot dead near Madrid. The killer was waiting for the politician on a motorcycle, and after the shooting he quickly disappeared.

The newspaper El Mundo reported that there were several shots fired. One of the bullets hit Portnov in the neck, after which he fell. Then the killer finished him off with a shot to the head and fled the scene of the crime. The media reports that there may be two or three attackers. So far, there are signs of only one killer: this is a "tall, thin man," according to the website. kp.ru .
