Mikhail Timakov, a 22-year-old resident of the Novosobirsk region, was sentenced to 14 years in prison in the case of an attempted terrorist attack in the Belgorod region. The Belgorod Regional Prosecutor's office announced this on May 21.
"The court found that Timakov, on the instructions of unidentified persons, arrived in the Belgorod region and, following the instructions received, extracted an improvised explosive device from a cache, which he installed and activated in the immediate vicinity of the police building in the city of Stroitel," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.
It is specified that the explosive device was defused. It is reported that Timakov was found guilty of attempted terrorist act and illegal possession of explosive devices.
According to the prosecutor's office, the man was sentenced to 14 years in prison. Timakov will spend the first three years in prison, the rest in a strict regime penal colony. In addition, he was fined 300 thousand rubles.
On May 12, a minor resident of Novokuznetsk was detained in the Kemerovo region, who planned to detonate an improvised explosive device (IED) on the territory of the city military enlistment office. It is specified that a criminal case has been opened under the article on preparations for a terrorist attack.
