- Pashinyan gave a positive assessment of the relations between Yerevan and Moscow in 2025

This year, relations between Yerevan and Moscow are developing positively, in a positive way, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on May 21 at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"This year, I positively assess the dynamics of our relations. A dynamic dialogue is taking place between me and [Russian President] Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin], our deputy prime ministers work very closely within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and on issues of bilateral relations," the politician said at a meeting in Yerevan. The Russian Foreign Minister thanked Pashinyan for the meeting, noting that Moscow appreciates his personal presence in the Russian capital at events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII).
Also, earlier on May 21, at a press conference following a meeting with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, the Russian Foreign Minister noted that there are no signs of Ukrainization in Armenia in the form of oppression of the Russian-speaking population. Lavrov stressed that Armenia has not adopted laws that prohibit the Russian language and culture, as well as deprive Russian-speaking people of their rights, as happened in Ukraine.
On May 7, Pashinyan indicated that Armenia was not going to worsen relations with Russia while building contacts with the West. He noted that the country is guided by a balanced foreign policy, which does not envisage building ties with some states at the expense of deteriorating relations with others. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on March 21 that Russia is ready to develop relations with Armenia in every possible way.
