Hutsul accused Moldovan authorities of repression

The head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, accused the Moldovan authorities of repression due to criminal prosecution. Her words on May 21 are quoted in the Telegram channel.
"This is not justice, this is repression. The fabricated case, the pressure on the court, the attempts to isolate me from the people — all this is aimed at breaking our spirit and subjugating Gagauzia to Chisinau," she stressed.
Hutsul noted that the decision not to lift her house arrest was made by the court without arguments and legal grounds. The politician stated that the actions of the Moldovan authorities are aimed at leaving Gagauzia without a legitimately elected leader.
"But it won't work. The stronger the pressure, the more determined you are. I'm not giving up or backing down. The people gave me my mandate, and only the people can take it away," Hutsul added.
Earlier that day, the Chisinau Court of Appeal left the head of Gagauzia under house arrest until June 13. According to Hutsul's lawyer, Sergei Moraru, the decision to extend house arrest is illegal, it did not analyze the arguments of the defense.
On March 25, Hutsul was detained at the Chisinau airport. Her name was found on the list of persons who are prohibited from leaving the country. Later, the head of Gagauzia was arrested for 20 days, and on April 9, the court replaced her measure of restraint with house arrest.
