The European Union (EU) countries are preparing a new package of proposals on trade with the United States to boost upcoming negotiations with the administration of US President Donald Trump. This was reported by Bloomberg on May 21, citing sources.

"It was expected that the European Union would share a revised trade proposal with the United States, as it aims to boost negotiations with the administration of President Donald Trump amid continued skepticism about the possibility of reaching a transatlantic agreement," the material says.

According to the newspaper, the initiative contains proposals that will take into account the interests of the United States, as well as international labor rights, environmental standards, economic security and a complete reduction in tariffs on both sides for "insensitive" agricultural products and manufactured goods.

It is noted that this document provides for mutual investments and strategic purchases in the field of energy, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital communications between the countries. The article clarifies that the EU is committed to cooperation with the United States and is looking for balanced and mutually beneficial proposals.

At the same time, the EU is preparing retaliatory measures for the United States if negotiations do not lead to the desired result.

Earlier, on May 12, Trump called the US-EU trade relations disgusting. He clarified that the EU was forcing American pharmaceutical companies "to do what they didn't like to do." The Head of State added that European countries also often sued American companies, while resorting to using their own judges.
