The detentions of supporters of the Pobeda opposition bloc during the working trip of Moldovan President Maia Sandu are an operation of the Moldovan police and special services. Alexey Lungu, the leader of the Chance party, told Izvestia on May 21.

"We must understand that this is a definite operation of the Moldovan police and special services, because today they were waiting for Maya Sandu in the south of the republic," Lungu said.

According to him, the police had to detain the most "vociferous" protesters so that Sandu could safely come and conduct her "political agitation."

The politician stressed that today the staff of the country's legal authorities act on the instructions of the current Moldovan authorities.

"When it comes to our team members, they are found at the airport, they are given nightmares on the way, they are detained, <...> right on the street in Comrat," Lungu added.

On May 21, Moldavian MP Alexander Sukhodolsky announced the detention of three citizens in the village of Etulia in the Gagauz Autonomous Region for expressing dissatisfaction with the government's policy and wanting to ask Sandu "pressing" questions.

According to the deputy, Alexander Panov, Ivan Panya and Ivan Stamov, supporters of the Victory bloc, were detained.

"As soon as someone expresses disagreement with the actions of the Sandu regime, the repressive machine turns on. Even if there are only one, two, ten such people — or a hundred, two hundred — they are pressed, their roads are blocked, they are scared," Sukhodolsky wrote on his Telegram channel.

Earlier in the day, the Chisinau Court of Appeal left the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, under house arrest until June 13. According to the lawyer of the head of the autonomy, Sergei Moraru, the decision to extend the Hutsul's house arrest is illegal, it did not analyze the arguments of the defense.
