The political scientist explained the removal of Kallas from EU defense documents

The head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, could be removed from the documents in the field of defense of the European Union (EU) due to geopolitical tensions. Political analyst Alexander Asafov told Izvestia about this on May 21.
He stressed that such EU documents are specific strategies related, among other things, to attempts to distribute powers within NATO.
"The Europeans are afraid to 'squeeze' the issue of geopolitical tensions, accusing Russia, and declaring rather radical measures such as the deployment of troops from the coalition of the willing to Ukraine," Asafov said.
According to him, the powers of some of the main defenders of these ideas, who are trying to document them, may be temporarily limited.
"In general, defense policy is a subject matter for each country and within the NATO bloc. After all, the EU countries believe that this issue should be resolved separately. Therefore, based on these prerequisites, of course, such media escalations are unnecessary and even harmful now," the political scientist concluded.
On May 21, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reported that Brussels was beginning to admit that they had made a mistake with the appointment of Kai Kallas to the post of EU Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. As a result, she was suspended from the preparation of EU strategic documents in the field of defense. Her participation in the discussion of the Ukrainian settlement is practically reduced to zero.
