- There was no Portuguese translator at Callas' briefing with the Angolan Foreign Minister.

At a joint press conference between Angolan Foreign Minister Tete António and the head of EU Diplomacy, Kaya Callas, in Brussels on May 21, there was no Portuguese translator, despite the fact that it is the main language in the African country.
At the beginning of the meeting with reporters, Antonio asked if he could speak Portuguese. However, after a pause, it turned out that there was no specialist with knowledge of this language at the meeting. Callas suggested that the head of the department switch to English or French.
"Is it okay if I speak Portuguese? No? There is no Portuguese. Oh, French or English. Wow. Okay, I'll try," Antonio said with a smile.
Callas apologized for the situation, and the Angolan minister replied that it was not a problem.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reported that the EU recognizes the error of appointing Callas to the post of head of European diplomacy. According to the SVR, on the sidelines of the European Commission, the absolute incompetence of the EU representative on foreign policy is recorded with irritation.
