- The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation told about the use of analogues of a "secure account" by scammers
Scammers have started using new language instead of the usual "secure account". This was announced on May 21 by the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
According to the agency, attackers are now using the words "reserve", "declarative" and "cryptocurrency" to deceive victims.
Scammers also resort to psychological tricks, convincing citizens to transfer money to fake accounts. For example, they claim that a "cryptocurrency" account will provide protection through the blockchain, while a "declaration" account is needed to account for funds before a search.
"All these accounts are just scam accounts, and the only truly secure one is your account," the agency noted in the Telegram channel.
The Interior Ministry urged not to trust such schemes.
On May 16, it was reported that fraudsters had complicated the standard scheme of deceiving Russians and introduced a new stage there. At first, they call on behalf of couriers, imitating inexperienced scammers. Then, pretending that they forgot to turn off the microphone, they discuss the "divorce plan." After that, they contact the victim on behalf of Roskomnadzor and coax out the real code to log in to the online bank.
