A criminal case has been opened in the Republic of Dagestan against a native of the region for involving local residents in a terrorist attack. This was reported on May 21 in the press service of the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic.

According to the investigation, a 41-year-old man, while on the territory of a foreign country, contacted two residents of Dagestan in a messenger, inciting them to create a terrorist community in Makhachkala, as well as to commit a terrorist attack on May 5.

"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of crimes provided for in Part 2 of Article 205.5 ("Participation in the activities of a terrorist organization") and Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 ("Assistance to terrorist activities") The Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the agency's Telegram channel says.

Earlier, on May 19, it was reported that a criminal case had been opened against nine residents of the Stavropol Territory, including eight teenagers, on suspicion of participating in a terrorist organization. As noted in the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region, the attackers planned an attack on police officers on May 9, but their actions were stopped by investigators together with the Interior Ministry and the FSB.
