Nissan unveils new generation of Micra hatchback

Nissan has introduced the Micra model of the new, sixth generation. With the change of generation, the hatchback got a fully electric power plant. The brand's press service shared details about the model on May 21.
The Nissan Micra is based on the Renault 5 E-Tech electric car, which debuted in 2024, and differs from it in its exterior design. The hatchback received an unusual front lighting system, which has a "wink" function when opening and closing the car, as well as plastic protective elements around the perimeter of the body. The interior of the novelty is almost identical to the French model, with two 10.1-inch screens combined in one panel.
The length of the Nissan Micra is less than 4 m and the wheelbase is 2.54 m. The hatchback will be offered with electric motors with a capacity of 122 and 150 hp. The base battery with a capacity of 40 kWh allows you to drive up to 308 km without recharging (according to the WLTP cycle), and a more capacious battery (52 kWh) — up to 408 km.
Nissan began production of the first-generation Micra in 1983. The fifth generation model was removed from the assembly line in 2023.
On May 13, it was reported that Nissan, which is in a difficult situation due to falling sales and financial difficulties, will close seven car factories and cut 20,000 jobs (15% of the staff) as part of the largest anti-crisis plan in its history.
Prior to that, on March 26, Nissan announced a number of new models that are due to debut before 2027, including the new generation Leaf, Juke and Micra.
