Investigative authorities have recorded the deaths of more than 5,600 civilians as a result of attacks by the Ukrainian army in Donbas since 2014. This was announced on May 21 by the head of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, at the Youth International Legal Forum.

"As part of the cases being investigated by the Main Investigation Department as a result of Ukraine's aggression since 2014, 5,649 civilians in Donbass, including 218 minors, have been killed," TASS quoted him as saying.

Bastrykin also added that almost 13.2 thousand more people were injured in various degrees of severity.

On February 17, three militants of the Azov battalion (recognized as a terrorist organization, banned in the Russian Federation) were sentenced for crimes against civilians in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). They were sentenced to long-term imprisonment in a high-security penal colony.
