The dome of the Shevchenko Show circus, touring in Volgograd, collapsed due to strong winds and torrential rain. This was announced on May 21 on the team's page on the VKontakte social network.

According to the circus, the incident occurred the day before at about 23:20. Wind gusts exceeded 20 m/s, which led to the destruction of the structure. There were no casualties as a result of the incident.

"At the time of the incident, there were no spectators or artists inside. Circus staff and animals are safe," the statement said.

According to the representatives of the troupe, the dome's design was technically sound, but it could not withstand the elements. All upcoming performances in Volgograd have been canceled, and an assessment of the damage is underway.

In March, a podium with spectators collapsed in a traveling circus in the Samara Neftegorsk. The height of the podium was no more than 3 m, and there were 20 people on it. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, seven people were injured in the collapse.

A criminal case has been opened into the incident under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers").
