It should take no more than a minute to warm up the engine in the warmer months. The engine and the lubrication system reach operating mode much faster than in winter, and it is much more useful for the engine under light load than idle on site. This was told by Yulia Trushkova, Rolf's Service Director.
"In summer, conditions are already favorable: the air is warm, the oil is not thickened, the density of the mixture is closer to working from the first seconds. Do I have to wait on the spot? No. In the hot season, 20-30 seconds are enough for the oil to disperse through the mains, the pressure in the system to stabilize, and the electronics to adapt to startup. This is quite enough to start moving," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Trushkova as saying on May 21.
After warming up, it is important to start driving at a steady speed and not "spin up" the engine above 2500-3000 rpm until the operating temperature is reached. At the same time, drivers of turbocharged and high-mileage internal combustion engines should spend a little longer to warm up (about one minute), as well as after a long downtime, the expert noted.
It is not necessary to warm up the engine to operating temperature on site due to high fuel consumption, candle contamination, oil dilution and poor ventilation of the engine compartment, the specialist said.
On May 16, auto expert Pavel Bakharev said that many car owners underestimate the role of brake fluid and forget about the need for regular replacement, which can lead to serious consequences on the road. According to him, in some cases it is necessary to change the liquid more often than the manufacturer recommends.
