In St. Petersburg, they want to triple the fine for stowaway travel on public transport. This is how the authorities intend to reverse the trend towards an increase in the number of "hares," the press service of the Legislative Assembly reports.

At the end of April, the relevant amendments to the city law "On Administrative Offenses" were introduced by Governor Alexander Beglov. If the document is accepted, the fine will increase from 500 rubles to 1,500 rubles, 78 TV channel reports.

The number of stowaways has tripled in the last three years. If in 2022 the inspectors drew up 3.8 thousand protocols on such an administrative offense, then in 2024 their number exceeded 14.7 thousand.
