An attempt by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to win over American leader Donald Trump in the conflict with Russia has failed. This was reported by the WSJ newspaper on May 21.

"Zelensky agreed to an unconditional cease—fire proposed by the US leader, signed a mineral deal <...> and flew to Turkey for negotiations," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, Zelensky has been urging Trump to put pressure on Russia for three months, but to no avail, and during the three months of the American leader's rule, the Ukrainian president has achieved nothing.

Trump, in turn, chose a soft line of interaction with Russia and a hard line with Ukraine, he adds "Газета.Ru ".

Earlier, on May 20, British analyst Alexander Mercuris said that Zelensky was unhappy with the results of telephone conversations between the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States. The expert stressed that the development of events that is observed following the results of the last conversation contradicts the plans of the leaders of the European Union to continue the conflict.
