Toyota unveils new RAV4 crossover

Toyota has introduced a new generation RAV4 crossover. One of the world's best-selling brands with the sixth generation will be offered only by hybrid power plants, sales will start at the end of 2025, the model will be presented in the markets of more than 180 countries. The press service of the Japanese manufacturer announced this on May 21.

The new Toyota RAV4 is based on the TNGA-K platform, just like the previous generation model. The architecture has been modernized and strengthened. The wheelbase remained the same — 2690 mm. The dimensions of the model have hardly changed relative to the previous one, the length of the crossover varies from 4595 to 4618 mm, and the height from 1701 to 1722 mm, depending on the modification. The trunk volume has been increased from 733 liters to 749 liters. The model will additionally be offered in off-road and sports versions.

The RAV4 will be offered only in gas-electric versions and 2.5-liter engines. The base will be a 226-horsepower version with front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive develops 236 hp. The PHEV (rechargeable hybrid) modification will be available only with all-wheel drive, its power plant produces 320 hp, and the power reserve on pure electricity is 80 km.

The number of physical buttons in the RAV4 has decreased, and control of a number of functions has been moved to the main screen. The cabin has a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 10.5-inch multimedia system display (12.9 inches in high trim levels). The new-generation crossover also received an improved Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 ADAS driver assistance package.

The day before, it was reported that GAC plans to bring the GS4 crossover to the Russian market in a new modification, which differs in the power plant. The model, which is called the Toyota RAV4 analog, is already undergoing certification. The model will receive a two-liter engine, a classic "automatic" and an all-wheel drive system. Sales of this model are expected to start in the summer of 2025.
