Gynecologist called habits that kill a woman's libido

Decreased sexual desire is a common problem faced by 32% of women. Evgeny Kucher, a gynecologist at the SM Clinic Center for Reproductive Health, told Izvestia about habits that reduce female libido on May 22.
"Stress is one of the main enemies of female libido. When you are constantly under stress, the body produces cortisol, which suppresses the production of sex hormones such as estrodiol and testosterone, necessary for sexual desire and pleasure," explained the doctor.
In this regard, he advised to find ways to reduce stress for yourself — to practice yoga, meditation, take a walk in the fresh air, spend time with loved ones.
The gynecologist named lack of sleep as the next factor, which leads to hormonal imbalance and negatively affects mood. All this together leads to a decrease in sexual desire.
"Try to sleep at least 7-8 hours a day. Create comfortable sleeping conditions: a dark, quiet and cool room," the specialist advised.
The third factor is poor nutrition. According to the doctor, an unbalanced diet rich in processed foods, sugar and trans fats can negatively affect hormones and overall health. Therefore, it is important to eat a balanced diet, eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat protein and "healthy" fats.
"Lack of physical activity is another important factor affecting libido. Regular exercise not only improves overall health, but also improves blood circulation and stimulates the production of endorphins, hormones of happiness that positively affect libido. Engage in physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day. It can be walking, running, swimming, dancing or any other type of activity that you like," the specialist continued.
He also noted factors such as excessive alcohol consumption and smoking. Alcohol and nicotine negatively affect blood circulation and hormones.
"It has been proven that alcohol consumption increases the likelihood of a decrease in sexual desire in women by 74%, and smoking significantly reduces sexual arousal. Therefore, if you want to increase your libido, you will have to limit alcohol consumption and quit smoking," the gynecologist added.
He called the lack of communication with a partner another factor. According to the doctor, the lack of emotional intimacy and open communication can lead to a decrease in sexual desire. In this regard, he advised to spend time communicating with a partner, discuss their feelings and needs, spend time together, and engage in joint hobbies.
In addition, according to the specialist, some medications, such as antidepressants, birth control pills and a number of drugs for the treatment of blood pressure, can reduce libido. Therefore, you should discuss with your doctor the possibility of replacing the medication with an alternative one that does not affect libido.
"In some cases, decreased libido may be caused by medical reasons such as hormonal imbalance, thyroid disease, depression, and others. Therefore, if you notice a decrease in libido, you should consult a doctor for examination and identify possible medical causes," the doctor added.
In conclusion, he noted that it is important to take a comprehensive approach to solving the problem of decreased libido. He advised me to change my lifestyle, consult a doctor to rule out medical reasons, and work on improving my relationship with my partner.
Earlier, on February 21, Anastasia Sokolova, a gynecologist at the SM Clinic Center for Reproductive Health, told Izvestia which foods are recommended to be excluded or limited during pregnancy. These include raw or undercooked meat, fish, and eggs.
