Analysts described how prices and demand for tea have changed.


The demand for yellow tea increased the most, up 21% from last year's figures. The most popular tea, black tea, on the contrary, began to be purchased less frequently by 2%. This was reported to Izvestia on May 21 by SIGMA ATOL analysts, who conducted a study of anonymized sales data based on 2.4 million receipts for January-May 15, 2024-2025.
At the same time, the average purchase price of tea increased by 17% to 149 rubles. for the packaging. But the demand for green tea increased by 8%, and its average price was 147 rubles. for packaging (+15% from 2024).
The leader in demand growth, yellow tea, was bought for 620 rubles, which is 23% more expensive compared to 2024. White tea was bought less often by 24%, and the average cost was 783 rubles, which is 33% more expensive than last year. The average selling price of puer decreased by 19% to 749 rubles, while demand for it increased by 31%.
Earlier, on May 20, Alexander Anfinogenov, an economist and expert on the consumer goods market (FMCG), told Izvestia that it is always profitable to invest in coffee, as it is an almost complete guarantee of a return on invested funds and profits. It is specified that on May 20, the Moscow Stock Exchange began trading coffee futures. The contracts reflect the dynamics of the exchange price of coffee beans from various countries in Africa, Central and South America, as well as other coffee—producing regions.
