Al Jazeera reported nearly 100 deaths in Israeli strikes on Gaza in a day.

At least 98 people have died as a result of strikes by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the Gaza Strip over the past day. This was reported on May 21 by Al Jazeera TV channel, citing sources.

"Medical sources report that Israeli forces killed at least 98 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday," the TV channel said.

Israel maintains a presence at five positions in the neighboring country and does not seem to be going to lose control over it.

On May 20, the Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli army, Eyal Zamir, announced that the IDF was expanding its military operation in the Gaza Strip, without excluding the possibility of adjusting its actions if an agreement was reached on the release of hostages.
