A court in the Khabarovsk Territory sentenced a 50-year-old man to 14 years in prison, finding him guilty of financing and publicly justifying terrorism. This was announced on Tuesday, May 21, by the press service of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region on the agency's website.
According to the investigation, from 2021 to 2023, the man transferred money to a terrorist organization banned in Russia, thereby supporting the ideas of its founder and participants. In addition, in one of the messengers he published materials containing signs of justification and propaganda of terrorism.
The man is charged with Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Financing of terrorism") and Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public justification of terrorism and propaganda of terrorism committed using the Internet"). The court sentenced him to 14 years in prison, and he will serve four years in prison.
Earlier, on May 13, two residents of the Trans-Baikal Territory were sentenced to prison for attempting to join an international terrorist organization (ITO) banned in Russia. The court sentenced them to nine and 12 years in prison.
