After a fire at a transformer substation in Vladivostok, 10 residential buildings, a school and several commercial facilities were left without electricity. This was announced on May 21 by the press service of the Vladivostok Electric Grid Company (VPP).

"A fire broke out on Zmeinka in Vladivostok this morning. According to preliminary information, the fire occurred in a transformer substation, which led to a power outage in two apartment buildings and about eight private houses. The school and a number of commercial facilities in the area have also been temporarily suspended," the company's website says.

It is noted that fire crews promptly arrived at the scene. Firefighters were able to eliminate the flame, preventing its spread. Specialists managed to minimize the damage.

An investigation is currently underway to determine all the circumstances and causes of the incident. The WPP said that work on restoring power supply to de-energized facilities is already underway.

On May 16, the regional authorities of the Kemerovo region reported that almost 30 thousand residents of the settlements of Polysaevo, Nikitinsky and Mysky were left without electricity due to an accident at a substation. This happened, as noted, due to the disconnection of two overhead power lines.
