- Reuters reported on the possible seizure of a tanker linked to the UAE off the coast of Iran.

A tanker bound for the UAE and flying the flag of Panama may have been hijacked off the coast of Iran. This was reported on May 20 by the Reuters news agency with reference to the British company Ambrey, specializing in maritime security.
As noted, the ship was captured approximately 51 nautical miles (94.5 km) northwest of the Iranian port of Bandar-e-Jesk.
According to the newspaper, an urgent message was sent about the seizure of the vessel. It is assumed that it could be linked to the Iranian "shadow fleet" (a group of vessels that illegally delivers oil from sanctioned countries), and could also be included in the sanctions lists of the Office for Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) as part of the Iranian program.
On May 14, NATO aircraft and the Estonian Navy tried to intercept a civilian Jaguar ship sailing to Primorsk under the flag of Gabon and traveling in neutral waters. The Estonian Navy began threatening a civilian vessel with a battering ram and raised tactical aircraft. There were 21 people on board the ship — citizens of Russia, India and Myanmar.
On May 15, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte clarified that the North Atlantic Alliance is in contact with the Estonian government to clarify the circumstances of the tanker attack.
