- CNN has learned about Israel's possible preparations for an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities

Israel is considering the possibility of attacking Iran's nuclear facilities as the administration of US President Donald Trump conducts diplomatic negotiations with Tehran. This was reported on Monday, May 20, by CNN, citing American sources familiar with the intelligence.
"The chance of an Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear facilities has increased significantly in recent months. <...> The prospect of a U.S.-Iranian agreement that does not provide for the complete elimination of Iran's uranium reserves makes such a strike even more likely," the channel quoted one of the sources as saying.
According to American officials, a possible strike could be an audacious step that violates the course of the American leader and provoke a broader regional conflict in the Middle East, a development that Washington is trying to avoid, the publication says.
At the same time, the channel's sources note that it is still unclear whether the Israeli leaders have made a final decision to strike Iran or not. At the same time, the likely strike is likely to depend on how the Israeli authorities assess the progress of negotiations between the United States and Tehran over the Iranian nuclear program.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on April 20 that the country had never planned attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities. He explained that Jerusalem does not want to allow Tehran to acquire nuclear weapons. Later, on April 28, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi noted that any Israeli attempt to attack Iranian facilities would receive an immediate response from the Islamic Republic.
