An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 occurred in western Turkey. This was announced on May 20 on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

According to him, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 45 km southwest of Bahçelievler district (Istanbul province) with a population of 576 thousand people and 34 km southwest of Esenyurt district (Istanbul province) with a population of 211 thousand people. The source was located at a depth of 15 km. The tremors were recorded at 20:36 UTC (23:36 Moscow time).

According to the Turkish Department of Emergency Situations and Natural Disasters (AFAD), the earthquake occurred in the Sea of Marmara, about 23 km from the Istanbul district of Buyukcekmece with a population of 163.1 thousand people.

There was no information about casualties or damage.

The Turkish TV channel TRTHaber, citing the country's emergency management department, reported on May 15 an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 in the Turkish province of Konya, which is located near Ankara.
