A hot June can contribute to a good harvest of berries, as well as tomatoes, peppers and onions, Vladimir Vikulov, an agronomist and agricultural specialist, told Izvestia.

When there is a sufficient supply of moisture in the soil after winter and spring, high temperatures will accelerate the development and fruiting of major crops, the expert noted.

"Honeysuckle ripens first in late May and early June, followed by early strawberry varieties, and then all the main berry crops," he explained.

The end of spring and the beginning of summer in Central Russia is forecast to be warm and even hot, Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, told Izvestia.

When the weather is hot in summer and all other conditions are met, nightshade crops such as tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and onions show a good harvest, Vladimir Vikulov noted.

"High temperatures are harmful to potatoes. It stops the formation of tubers, the rate of weight gain slows down," he explained.

With a lack of precipitation in summer, summer residents will be able to compensate for the lack of moisture with abundant watering, the expert assured.
