Olga Chirkova, head of the Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention at the Khimki Hospital, spoke about the main danger of hypertension and gave advice on its prevention.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Tuesday, May 20, the specialist noted that hypertension is a systemic disease that eventually leads to most serious complications from the cardiovascular system, kidneys, retina, and so on. Often, before the period of complications, people do not feel it, because there are no specific symptoms. In addition, people often attribute headaches, weakness, and dizziness to fatigue, weather changes, and do not measure blood pressure. As a result, heart attacks, strokes, retinal detachment, blindness, and chronic kidney failure can occur.

According to the doctor, to prevent arterial hypertension, blood pressure should be measured from the age of 40. If relatives suffer from hypertension or one of the parents has had a history of heart attack or stroke, blood pressure should be measured earlier.

The development of the disease can be influenced by a sedentary lifestyle, smoking, excess salt in the diet, elevated blood cholesterol, poor nutrition, alcohol abuse, overweight and psychosocial factors, writes RT.

On May 19, therapist Dmitry Karpenko stated that the increase in the incidence of hypertension is associated with a modern lifestyle. These are constant stress, poor nutrition, lack of exercise, excess salt and caffeine, as well as impaired biorhythms due to gadgets, the website notes. kp.ru .

On May 17, cardiologist Sergey Boytsov told Izvestia that high blood pressure increases overall mortality by 51%. As a preventive measure, Fighters recommended quitting smoking and alcohol, increasing physical activity, and including more vegetables and fruits in the diet.

On May 16, the chief narcologist of the Moscow region, Vitaly Holdin, warned about the dangers of smoking with hypertension. According to him, nicotine, entering the bloodstream, narrows blood vessels, thereby increasing blood pressure, notes 360.ru .

In April, European scientists said that it is best to fall asleep from 22 to 23 p.m., otherwise the risk of hypertension, heart attacks and strokes increases, writes NSN.

Earlier, cardiologist Natalia Blinova said that at the first stage of hypertension, only the presence of high blood pressure is noted, while organs and systems function normally, and there are no concomitant diseases, including cardiovascular ones. In the second stage, lesions of the heart, brain, blood vessels and kidneys are already observed, according to Pravda.Ru . In the third stage, stroke, heart attack, coronary heart disease, kidney and heart failure may occur.
