10 bronze gophers will appear on the streets of Krasnoyarsk

Sculptures in the form of gophers made of bronze will be installed in different districts of Krasnoyarsk. A total of 10 figurines will be placed in the city, the press service of the mayor's office reported on Tuesday, May 20.

The gophers have their own legend — the rodents escaped from Tatyshev Island and are now looking for a new place in the regional capital. The number of sculptures is also proportional to the number of letters in the name of the city.

According to the KrasnoyarskMedia news agency, the names and locations of the bronze animals will have to be chosen by the townspeople. To do this, the city authorities will hold a vote. It is known that the first gopher will be installed on June 1.

Earlier it was reported that landscaping works have begun in the center of Krasnoyarsk in preparation for the 400th anniversary of the city. There are plans to renovate 15 cross streets, four of them in the current season.
