- The media learned about Britain's termination of trade negotiations with Israel over Gaza

The British government has suspended negotiations with the Israeli side on concluding a free trade agreement in connection with the new operation of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by Bloomberg on May 20.
"The government of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that it plans to suspend free trade negotiations with Israel," the article says.
In addition, sanctions were announced against several individuals and entities that, according to Starmer, are involved in violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. According to the publication, this is how Britain is trying to put pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
At the same time, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy reiterated his support for Israel's right to self-defense, but stressed that the latest escalation was "morally unjustified."
The Israeli Foreign Ministry, in turn, said that external pressure would not lead the country astray "in the struggle for its existence and security against enemies working to destroy it."
On May 18, the IDF announced the launch of a large-scale ground operation "Gideon's Chariot" in the north and south of Gaza. Its goal is to establish tighter operational control of the IDF over the Palestinian enclave and destroy the command system of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, responding to a question from Izvestia, pointed out her disappointment at Israel's decision to launch a large-scale ground operation in the Gaza Strip. According to her, Moscow has repeatedly publicly stated that the only way to normalize the situation in Gaza would be to transfer the conflict resolution to a political and diplomatic channel.
