- Poland announced the return of EU quotas for the import of agricultural products from Ukraine

The European Union (EU) countries will return quotas for the import of agricultural products from Ukraine starting from June 6. This was announced on May 20 by Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh.
"I have good news from Brussels! The uncontrolled flow of agricultural products and foodstuffs from Ukraine to Europe is over," he said at a speech at the Sejm, which was broadcast by TVP Info.
He noted that the previous restrictions and quotas on agricultural imports will come into force in the EU on June 6. Kosinyak-Kamysh recalled that they were canceled after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine.
On May 14, the Euractiv portal reported that Kiev could face multibillion-dollar losses due to an increase in EU duties on agricultural products from Ukraine in June this year. According to the publication, the European Commission (EC) is considering a return to tariff quotas, which were introduced back in 2017.
Earlier in the day, the Financial Times newspaper reported that the EU is considering measures to increase duties on agricultural products from Ukraine from June 6 this year. The publication clarified that the initiative will negatively affect corn, sugar, honey and poultry meat. At the same time, such conditions will drastically reduce duty-free quotas for Ukrainian agricultural products.
