Three people died due to thunderstorms and floods in the Var department in the communes of Vidoban and Les Lavandou, located in the south of France. This was reported on May 20 by BFMTV TV channel with reference to the prefecture of the department.

"Thunderstorms and heavy rain have hit the Department of Var since the early morning of Tuesday, May 20. Due to their intensity, floods began. At least three people died in Le Lavandou and Vidoban," the channel said in a statement.

It is specified that 186 mm of precipitation fell in Vidoban in the morning alone, but the monthly precipitation rate in this region is 54 mm. In other communes, precipitation amounts to about 80-100 mm of precipitation.

An increased level of weather threat remains in more than 30 departments in the south and south-east of the country.

According to the press service of the prefecture of the Department of the Sar, as a result of search and rescue operations, 50 people were evacuated due to floods after the flooding of the Mol River. The Cavaliere commune, where roads and parking lots were flooded, as well as some bridges were washed away, became one of the most affected by the worsening weather conditions.

On May 17, La Nacion reported the evacuation of 7,000 residents of the Argentine province of Buenos Aires due to severe flooding. It is specified that since May 16, more than 400 mm of precipitation has fallen in the region.
