The monthly precipitation rate in Moscow has already been exceeded by the end of the second decade of May. Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos Weather center, announced this in his Telegram channel on Tuesday, May 20.

"Last night, 4 mm of heavenly moisture got into the precipitation meters of meteorologists at the city's base weather station, VDNKh, which brought the total precipitation to 61.1 mm, which is 0.1 higher than the May climatic norm," the Moscow City News agency quoted the forecaster.

He added that light rains occurred on May 20, so according to evening data, the excess over the norm will become more noticeable.

Leus noted that rains are expected in the capital at the beginning of next week.

In turn, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, said that summer weather is expected in the center of European Russia over the weekend — the air will warm up to +26 degrees. 360.ru .

Earlier in the day, Yandex Weather experts told Izvestia that the average summer temperature in Russia will exceed the climatic norm by two to three degrees, and new temperature records are expected to be set in some regions.

It will be especially hot in the southern regions of the country. In the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov region, summer may become the hottest in the last 30 years, with peak temperatures in July, Moscow 24 clarifies. A similar situation is expected in Krasnoyarsk, where last year's temperature records may be exceeded in July and August.
