The State Duma adopted a law on the registration of migrants in Moscow and the region through the application

At the plenary session, the State Duma adopted in the second and third readings a law on conducting an experiment in Moscow and the Moscow Region to register migrants through a specific mobile application that will collect information about the geolocation of foreign citizens. This was announced on May 20 by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin in his Telegram channel.

Foreign citizens who participate in the experiment will register in a specialized mobile application and provide consent to the processing of their personal data, including mobile device and geolocation data. Then they must send information about their actual location through the mobile application to the territorial body of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"The adopted mechanism will allow, using modern technologies, to strengthen control in the migration sphere, and will also help reduce the number of offenses and crimes in this area," Volodin wrote on his channel.

He clarified that if migrants change their actual location, they will be required to inform the Interior Ministry within three working days. It is necessary to inform using a mobile application.

"These measures will not affect only diplomats and citizens of Belarus," the speaker of the State Duma added.

Regions and businesses were instructed to assess the needs for such employees.

On May 20, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Irina Volk, informed about the closure of the illegal migration channel and the detention of six residents of the Volgograd region and Moscow, who illegally legalized over 1,000 foreigners. According to Volk, the defendants offered their clients to illegally issue migration documents for money. Fake contracts were concluded with foreigners, with the help of which citizens of other states could extend their stay in Russia.
