- Ushakov: Trump is delighted with the victory of the Russians in the Great Patriotic War

During telephone conversations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump admired the victory of Soviet citizens in the Great Patriotic War. This was announced to journalists on May 20 by Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
"The US president [in a conversation with Putin] also noted that he was deeply impressed by the price at which this victory was won," he said.
An aide to the Russian leader said that the American president, among other things, acknowledged that the Russians had made the most sacrifices in World War II. Trump noted that in the United States they don't believe him when he reminds them of this fact.
In addition, Ushakov said that the heads of state spoke a lot and warmly about the fact that Moscow and Washington were allies during the Second World War. According to him, Trump noted with regret that at the moment the Russian Federation and the United States are "very far from each other."
On the evening of May 19, Putin reported on a meaningful and useful telephone conversation with Trump. The conversation lasted more than two hours. The Russian President said that during the talks he expressed gratitude to the American leader for the US participation in the resumption of direct Russian-Ukrainian negotiations.
